To the Haitian Community
Today, let's celebrate the beauty of the Church of the Nazarene in Springfield, Ohio. A new Haitian church has been launched at Springfield High Street, and each week over 125 people gathered together to worship. This is more than just a number; it's a community coming together, finding hope, and sharing life.
Our dear friends at Springfield First Church have been embracing families with open arms, ministering to them through dedications and joy filled celebrations. It's a reminder of how long before the headlines, there were hearts ready to share the good news, welcoming the stranger with love and compassion.
To the Haitian community and all who have been mistreated, We pray this prayer sent by our Springfield Maplewood Nazarene Pastor, Vicki Case:
Pray for tender hearts for those with angry spirits.
Pray for courage for leaders to lead well!
Pray for all those with non-white skin, because they are ALL afraid.
Pray for ALL the children, because they will remember and internalize everything they hear from the mouths of the grownups in their lives.
And pray for the PRINCE of PEACE to blanket our city.
In scripture, persecution often brought forth revival. We pray for this!!
As Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25:35-38, "I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger, and you welcomed me"..."When did we?"...“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"
